1985 Ramcharger Prospector

1985 Ramcharger Prospector

Well, it's been a while since I've been on here. But I have a 1985 Ramcharger that I plan on using as an offroad toy. Budget is next to nothing, but luckily I have some parts to pull from for now. I will be starting this probably July 2nd as I'm in Texas right now and my RC is in Indiana. I have a trailer for it and will be taking it to Michigan around the 7th and can work on it more there if needed.

My plans:
Drop a drivetrain into it, 400 big block, 727 transmission and not sure which transfer case I have for it off hand.
Add some recovery points. (I have some newer F-250 loops I plan to use on the front, probably the common aftermarket hooks for the rear.)
Probably gut the interior, remove the carpet and the headliner.
Unsure of which tires I'm going to use, I'll see what I have when I get home, but I have 16.5" and 15" rims for it.

So onto the pictures, this isn't in the best of shape, but it's a toy.

Right now, no front bumper, probably just stick a chrome one on it for now, eventually I do want a winch on it.

Pretty common rearend

Typical front.

Some rust on the roof, but minor.

32's right now, but I don't thing they have enough thread for anything.

Now onto what it needs. This is my parts truck, W250 8 lug axles, 400/727 etc.... Unsure of the year, but the frame and drivetrain is older than the cab. Picked it up cheap because the person couldn't figure out how to mate the two wiring harnesses.

Nothing fancy, but has the drivetrain I'm needing.

Standard 400 big block. It was apparently rebuilt not too long before I picked it up, but it's been sitting now for a couple of years. I have everything for it in the garage. It does run as well and ran fine when tested.

Also, I have a few options, I might sell off the axles from the parts truck, or I may end up swapping them under the ramcharger, it all depends on what size tire I want on the ramcharger and how much lift it gets. I might do the rear hanger flip, but haven't decided if I have time yet. Anyways, I might be using these tires at least until I can find a cheap set. I forget their size, but they are 16.5" rims.

For right now, that's all I have, I might also add a roofrack and some lights for offroading. We shall see when I get home and figure everything out with it. Thanks for looking.
